Biography

Thomas Hatch (3rd in his line but called "Jr" in records during his lifetime[1] to distinguish him from his father) was born 20 MAY 1722. Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts.

He married in Falmouth, Massachusetts 15 October 1751 : "Lewis, Anne and Thomas Hatch Jr., 15 Oct 1751."[2]

He died 7 FEB 1802 in Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts.

Excerpt from the Bates-Dyson-Hatch Families, published in 1983, page 94-95.

"Thomas Hatch, son of Thomas and Mary (Cathcart) Hatch, and great-great Grandson of the original Thomas, the emigrant, was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts in either 1722 or 1723. He married Anne Lewis on October 15, 1751. She was also of Falmouth. It is believed that this generation also lived most of their lives in that town. All of their seven children were baptized in Falmouth.

It is known that Thomas and Anne had at least four children. There may have been more.

1. Nathan, baptized December 3, 1752. 2. James, baptized April 13, 1755 3. Anna, baptized May 22, 1757 4. Merribah, baptized July 29, 1759. Married David Mooers on January 22, 1781 and they had 10 children."

Record previously had him married to Annah Lewis (lewis-6042) in error, daughter of George Lewis and Sarah Thatcher. Lewis-6042, Annah Lewis married Nathaniel Gorham on 10/31/1751. See John Howard of the Mayflower, Volume 1 by Elizabeth Person White, pages 243 and 369.

Bill, is there a source for the suffix of "III"? His marriage record calls him "Jr."
