Riël Haumann het 'n boek "Van Riga tot in Drakenstein - Die Verhaal van Eduartd Christiaan Haumann" geskryf waarin die stamvader se omswerwinge boeiend vertel word. Die stamvader het in 1745 op die skip Vreeland aangekom en was of in Riga (aan die Oossee) of in Moskou gebore. 'n Jaar na sy aankoms het hy as chirurgyn gepraktiseer en sodoende 'n ryk grondeienaar in die Boland geword. Uiteindelik woon hy op Simonsvlei naby Klapmuts. [1]
