George Henton served with Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.
George was born 8 Apr 1758 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. His parents were Thomas Henton and Ann Yarnall. He served in the Virginia Militia during the American Revolutionary War; he was appointed 1st Lieutenant 1782 and 1783.
He married Mary Rigney in Shanandoah County, Virginia with Phillip Sanniston showing as Mary's guardian. George and Mary had ten children. He appeared on the 1800, 1810, 1820, and 1830 U.S. Population censuses. He had a land certificate (#899 dated 5 Nov 1810) from Shelby Co., KY; also one #915 dated 14 Nov 1810. William, his brother-in-law, and he filed on farm lands in what is now Orange Co., Indiana where their residences were given as Harrison County, Indiana. George died on 22 Sep 1837 in Orange County, Indiana and was buried in Murphy Cemetery, Paoli, Orange County, Indiana.
