Biography

Dorothy is estimated to have been born about 1655 in England. She was the daughter of John Herne of London, England. She is named in her father's will of 1677 as married to _____ Whitlock of Virginia.^[1] Dorothy's death date is unknown, but she was known to be living in 1691.

Dorothy married James Whitlock before 1677 in either England or Virginia.^[1]

At one time James and Dorothy Whitlock owned land in Gloucester County, Virginia. On 5 June 1691 James Whitlock and wife Dorothy deeded said land to Edward Maise.^[2]
