He married Elizabeth Freeman, daughter of John and Anne Freeman of Attleborough on the 16th of May 1803 in the Attleborough parish church. The banns were called on the 24th April, 1st May and 8th of May 1803. This was a first marriage for both the bride and groom.
When the 1841 census was taken on the 6th of June 1841 Robert was living with his daughter Lydia (Hewitt) Smith and her family in Attleborough Norfolk. His wife Elizabeth had passed away 10 years previously in 1831.
On the 28th of June 1841, at Attleborough, Norfolk parish church, Robert married for a second time to Anne Blackburn, a widow of Attleborough.
In the 1851 English census Robert and Anne were still living in Attleborough along with a lodger. By this time both were in their middle to late 70s.
Robert passed away in Attleborough, Norfolk, England and was buried at Attleborough, Norfolk, England on the 24th of December 1854.

Originally this profile was created for William Hewitt, born before the 13th of September 1782. John Hewitt, Robert Hewitt's twin brother was baptised on the 13th of September 1782. John and Robert's father was William Hewitt and I believe the original GEDcom was mistaken in naming Robert after his father William.
