William Hitt, son of John Hitt and Frances Banks, was born December 1, 1782 in Halifax County, Virginia. He married Leah Bradford Peddy. William died March 20, 1872 in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau, Missouri and was buried in Hitt Cemetery, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri[1].
