Biography

"Mary Hiatt, the daughter of John and Mary (Thomas) Hiatt, was born 2 April 1762.[1][2]

She married William Hall shortly after 16 Feb 1785 (date of bond) probably in Guilford County, North Carolina. [3] It appears likely that this Mary Hall, formerly Hiatt, was the daughter of John Hiatt and Mary Thomas, since she was the only Mary Hiatt of the appropriate age.[4] John Hiatt and Sarah Hodson's daughter Mary was already married to Micajah Mills. On the 4th of the 7th month 1785, Deep River preparative meeting complains of Mary Hall formerly Hiatt for being with child before marriage also accomplished her marriage contrary to our discipline.[5] Apparently she was disowned because her name does not appear in subsequent Quaker records. But it appears that she remained in the Deep River District, then part of Stokes County, North Carolina where William Hall appears on tax lists and the 1810 census. She may have been "Polly Hall" listed on the 1820 census of Stokes County. The date of her death has not been determined.

Mary Hiatt, daughter of John Hiatt and Mary Thomas, probably was the same Mary Hiatt who married William Hall. Mary Hiatt, daughter of John Hiatt and Sarah Hodson, married Micajah Mills. See Micajah Mills (mills-641) for their marriage record. The record clearly shows that Mary was the daughter of John Hiatt and Sarah Hodson.
