Biography
Reuben Hicks was born in about 1819 in North Carolina.[1] He was likely the son of George Hicks and Elizabeth Randall, who migrated from North Carolina to Owen County, Indiana in about 1830.
On May 9, 1836, Reuben married Eady Beaman in Owen County, Indiana.[2] In 1840, this family appears in Morgan township in Owen County, with two young children in their household. They are living immediately adjacent to the family of Reuben's father George.[3] This growing family appears again in Morgan township in Owen County, in 1850.[4]
Shortly after 1850, Reuben and his family migrated west to Iowa, where they appear in Decatur County in 1860.[1] By 1870, they had settled in Maple township in Monona County, Iowa, where Reuben appears to have lived for the rest of his life.[5][6]
