Biography

Edith Alice Hicks was born in 1898 at Edmonton, Middlesex, England. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hicks and Alice Emily Wilson.^[1]

In the 1901 census Edith was age 3 living at Langhedge Lane Huntington Terrace, Edmonton, Middlesex with her father Benjamin Hicks (34), mother Alice Hicks (28), brothers Ernest E Hicks (8), William B Hicks (6), Harry C Hicks (1), sister Lizzie E Hicks (4), uncle John T Wilson (17).^[2]

In the 1911 census Edith was age 13 living at Edmonton, Middlesex with her father Benjamin Hicks (45), mother Alice Hicks (38), brothers Ernest Hicks (19), William Hicks (17), Thomas Hicks (0), sisters Elizabeth Hicks (14).^[3]

Charles George Ayres married Edith Alice Hicks on 25 Dec 1919 at St Martin, Lower Edmonton, Middlesex.^[4] They had two children: Charles William Ayres (b. 1921), Ernest Benjamin Ayres (b. 1925).
