DEATH of MR JOHN HIGGINS.
After a short but severe illness Mr John Higgins died at his residence, 3 Royal Terrace, Northampton at 7.45 on Sunday night.
The deceased gentleman, by his many virtues commanded general respect, and his loss will be keenly felt by the bereaved family and his large circle of friends. He was of a rather retiring disposition and took no part in politics or other public work.
He was more widely known as the senior partner of the firm of Messrs. J and G Higgins drapers of the Parade, a business which he started in 1860. about ten years later he was joined by his brother Mr George Higgins, and together they have built up one of the most successful of our drapery businesses.
The deceased was a thoroughly straightforward man of sound business capability. While in his commercial relations he was trusted and respected, in the social circle his lively and genial disposition endeared him to all.
He was the son of Mr Richard Higgins, farmer and was 57 years of age. He leaves a widow, one son and three daughters.
Among the congregation at Doddridge Chapel the news of his death will be received with especial regret, for he was one of the oldest and most regular attendants there......
