Biography

Clark Lightfoot Higley was born on November 26, 1813, in Edinburg, New York to Oliver and Lucretia Higley. He married Malinda Cheney on September 9, 1837, in Kirtland, Ohio. They were the parents of Lucy Lovisa (1841-1919), Freeman Dewey (1843-1927), George Washington (1845-1925), Lucretia Jane (1848-1913), Daniel Lee (1850-1919), Harriet Maria (1853-1935), and Mary (born and died in 1855). He married Eliza Ellen Goode on August 1, 1863 in Salt Lake. They were the parents of Roxelia (1868-1869), Julia Mariah (1869-1953), Frances Alvretta (1871-1966), Eliza (born 1874), Harriet Olive (1874-1957), Joshua (born 1876), Charles Goode (1877-1973), Willis Dewey (1880-1964), Elihu Cheney (1883-1974), Dave George (born 1885), and Lydia Emma (1886-1937). He married Amanda Thompson Baker on December 2, 1865 in Salt Lake City. They were the parents of Sarah Jane (1866-1867), William Henry (born and died in 1868), Mary Alvarella (1868-1870), Charles Luther (1870-1871), James Clark (1871-1962), Lovina Persinda (1872-1904), Pearthenia Eleanor (1875-1942), George Orange (1876-1958), Stephen Lemuel (1878-1965), Oliver Asa (1879-1933), Mary Elizabeth (1882-1920), Howard Warren (1884-1965), and Melinda Alvira (1887-1988). He was a rancher. Clark died on March 24, 1900, in Erda, Utah, at the age of 86, and was buried in Tooele City Cemetery in Tooele, Utah.
