Biography

Richard Hill is the descendant of Palatine migrants.

Richard was born on 23 April 1937 in Cortland, Cortland County, New York, USA, the son of George Erwin Hill and Freida H Cookingham.[1]

In 1940, he was living in Homer, Cortland County, New York with his parents and brother Martin.[2]

On 16 May, 1957, the Chatham Courier newspaper published a brief article about the military service of Richard and his brother Martin:[3]

"Two Chatham brothers are serving with distinction in the United States Navy.
In his third year at the United States Naval Academy is Midshipman Martin Hill, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hill of Chatham. Midshipman Hill graduated from Chatham High School and attended Case Institute in Ohio before entering Annapolis. At the Naval Academy he has maintained the highest scholastic record and has been named consistently on the Superintendent's List.
Richard Hill, 20, attended Chatham High and entered the Navy in 1954. He has been promoted to Aviation Mechanic and is now serving in the Hawaiian Islands."

In Alexandria, Virginia on 9 May 1960, Richard W. Hill, a carpenter born in Cortland, New York, married Catherine L. Nash, a clerk born in Hudson, New York.[4]

His first marriage ended in divorce sometime before 19 February 1966, when Richard married Carol (Carpenter) Parfitt in New York.[5]

Richard and Carol had two sons, Kevin and Brian Hill.

Richard and Carol were divorced in March, 1985 in Pittsford, Monroe County, New York.[6]

Richard died on 30 November 2021 at the Oxford, New York Veteran's home.[7]
