Biography

Susanna Hilton was born in 1780, the daughter of Capt Amos Hilton and his second wife Hannah Lufkin, of Manchester, Mass, who settled in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia before her birth^{[1] [2]}

In 1797, she married Rufus Hibbard, son of Eleazer Hibbard and Hannah Durkee who were also settlers of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia^[3]. Their children included:

1. Susanna, born April 27, 1799, who married James Cain, son of James^[3]
2. William, born June 19, 1800, who married Ruth Holmes, daughter of Nathaniel^[3]
3. Samuel, born April 13, 1802, who died in infancy^[3]
4. Samuel, born January 19, 1804, who married Nancy Churchill, daughter of Ezra^[3]
5. Rufus, born Jan 22, 1806, who married Lydia Tinkham, daughter of Benjamin^[3]
6. Anna, born May 15, 1808^[3]
7. Farnham^[3]
8. Mary, born 1812, who married Edwin Wetmore and who died without children^[3]
9. Emily, who married Thomas Dane Chipman, son of Zachariah in 1838^[3]
