Thanks for your message regarding the Cheshire Hilton family.
I think that Witton is a parish of Northwich, so the distance to Birkenhead would be about 25 miles - entirely possible for migration over that distance to have taken place sometime between the 1500s and the 1900s.
"My" Hiltons are very distant cousins by marriage. I'm currently in the process of updating profiles and privacy levels for everything on my Watchlist, working backwards from present day, so will get to the 19th century Hiltons eventually.
Best wishes.
It's wonderful to meet a new "cousin," thank you for reaching out. I am really enjoying doing research on my ancestors and "meeting" with others who enjoy the same. I hope we can keep in contact and share or discuss any issues or questions we have. Hope to chat with u soon, Cuz!
I have heard that they were from County Cork. I don't know if that's correct. Thats, I knew until now. From 23-Me I found that I have reltives in MA, NH and NY.
Thanks for your message. I’m afraid none of those names you gave me are shared. It seems that my people were attached to the naval base in Berehaven and so were all English, although I also have a couple of Irish convicts - but mostly from Dublin.
Anyway, all the best, and happy searching,
Chris

Thanks for your message. My DNA results state that I am 61% England and Northwestern Europe. 19% Scotland. 12% Ireland. 6% Wales. 2% Germanic Europe. I have Eastern New York and Connecticut Settlers. President Franklin Pierce is my 4th cousin 5x's removed. President Rutherford B. Hayes is also my 4th cousin 4x's removed. John Griffith Chaney, the American Author of "White Fang" and "Call of the Wild" is my 3rd cousin 2x's removed. Elizabeth Ann Jackson How(e) is my 10th Great Grandmother who was executed and hanged at the Salem Witch Trials in Salem, Mass in 1692. The Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and Normans are also part of my DNA results. I have alot of Knights Templers and freemasons in my ancestry research. I am still digging and researching deeply into my roots. I am an ancestor of Elizabeth Tilley from the Mayflower.
If you've got any Hilton's in Kentucky or Georgia, there's a Kentucky challenge going on right now, and I have come across some...https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1592825/wikitree-challenge-research-kentucky-genealogical-society
I see that we are both descendants of John Wildes of 1618 as you mentioned. But, my direct line from John Wildes does not have any Hiltons that I can find.
I don’t know how to answer your question as to “why” there is no closer connection within our Hilton our ancestry. 1590 is a long way back; and I’m a comparative newbie to genealogy.
You might try posting on G2G if you have a particular brick wall.
I received your message. So far I am only familiar with the Andries' that settled in Louisiana in 1853. As far as the name goes, Andros may be a corruption of Andries. I know there are a dozen variant spellings. As far as the Hiltons go, my great (3x) grandfather, James Hilton was born in 1800 or 1801 in South Carolina. I believe James' father was James Helton, born in 1765 in London England.
Your ancestors look much more exciting than mine. My McRaes were from Glenelg and Kintail, both in the Highlands, and probably come from a long line of tenant farmers. They came to Canada in the 1820's, settled in Ontario, and continued farming for at least the first generation. The two families intermarried and my great-grandfather took the family to Michigan for the lumbering. They later moved to Oregon for the same reason. I'm looking for records in Scotland, but they are scarce in the Highlands for this time period.
With regards to your relationship question: Once logged in, you can use the "Connections to me" feature and discover that information on connected profiles.
For example, we are not directly related, but have a 20-degree connection. I imagine as you extend the branches of your family tree and make more connections, that number might become smaller. Cheers - Judi Stutz

Thanks for reaching out. Got your messages to me from sent from my profile and the profile of Lewis Hilton-5008. Did find several ways I descend from William Hilton-18. None from the same child as you.
Got stuck at William Hilton-3967 as I became aware there MAY be more than one William Hilton “Love” Moody connection around the same time.
Must admit I’m rather an “armchair” genealogist; and you have great deal more research. Congratulations on having over 1000 connections, especially in such a short period of time on WikiTree!!
Enjoy your journey!
Best wishes, William L Maher

No, I haven't come across her/them, sorry, but I'll keep a look out. Dooling was a variant of Dowling, so maybe in the future, I will. I'll keep you posted. Happy digging Marie
We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

thank you for contacting me about your MacDonald ancestors. The record I have for Alexander Macdonald is that he died age 56 and was single. He is recorded as single in the 1871 census as head of household. With him his sister Anne, also single and a couple named Donald and Catherine Beaton who are said to be nephew and niece respectively of Alexander, plus their infant son Murdo Beaton-1364, MacBeath-62 [1]
Just because both his records show him as single does not mean he didn't have children. Do you have a cord for Alexander marrying anyone or living in the same household of anyone other than his sister? Best regards, Moira
Researching Macdonald McDonald MacDonald gets pretty arduous.
All the best, Moira
Cheers, Brad
