Francis was the heir of his uncle, Colonel John Hodder, who had 4133 acres east of Cork City, including the estates of Balliday at Bridgetown, Cluemore Granger, Egmont House (Ballymacow) at Churchtown and Dunkettle near Cork city. Francis inherited the lands of Hoddersfield, also known as Ringabrow, from his father.[1][2][3]
Francis married Jane, surname unknown, in County Cork.[1][2]
Francis and Jane had at least the following children:
On 25 February 1707, Francis granted his son-in-law Randall Roberts the lands of Bridgetown, County Cork by indentured deed.[5][6]
Francis most likely died in Hoddersfield about March 1724/25.[7]
Research Notes
He may not have been born at Ringabella. Burke (1912) records him as the second son of William of Ringabella but he did not succeed to the Ringabella estate.
He was of Hoddersfield and Bridgetown so may have died at either- most sources refer to him as "Francis Hodder of Hoddersfield".
Memorials of 1712 and 1718 record Francis having a son named George.
