Biography
John Hodgins was born at South Wingfield, Derbyshire, England in 1785. He was baptised at All Saints Church, South Wingfield, on 3rd November 1785, the son of William & Hannah Hodgins of South Wingfield.[1]
He married Martha Richards as John Hodson, alias Hodgin, at All Saints Church, South Wingfield on 21st May 1807. Both were "of this parish".[2]
In 1841, John & Martha lived at Village, South Wingfield, with their children Sarah, John and Mary.[3]
On the 1851 census, John & Martha Hodgin were living at South Wingfield, with their daughter Mary Taylor and her husband Samuel Taylor, and a niece Emma Wightman, aged 14.[4]
John Hodgin was living alone at Wessington, Derbyshire in 1861. He was an eighty-year-old widower, born in South Wingfield.[5]
He died at Oakerthorpe in 1867, aged 85 years, and was buried at All Saints, South Wingfield on 6th March 1867.[6]
