Biography

Joachim Friedrich, Elector of Brandenburg, was born on January 27, 1546 in Cölln an der Spree (today's Berlin). He was the son of Johann Georg von Brandenburg and Sophie von Liegnitz. He died on July 18, 1608.

On January 8, 1570, Joachim Friedrich married Katharina von Brandenburg-Küstrin, daughter of Johann von Brandenburg-Küstrin and Katharina von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. They had 11 children:
