Thomas Hokin was born 16 August 1821 at Sheerness Kent England. His parents were William Hokin & Mary (Burt) Hokin. [1]
Thomas and his parents and siblings arrived in Western Australia in 1829 on board the barque Parmelia. The Parmelia was a barque that was used to transport the first civilian officials and settlers of the Swan River Colony to Western Australia in 1829. [2]
Thomas married Mary Jane Collins in 1850 at Perth Western Australia, Australia. [3]
Sometime between 1852 and 1860 Thomas left Western Australia and moved to Victoria. He settled in the Maldon area near Bendigo Victoria.
Thomas passed away in December 1903 at Maldon Victoria Australia. [4]
A highly esteemed resident of Maldon, in the person of Mr. Thomas Hokin, has passed away at his residence, at the advanced age of 82 years. Born at Plymouth, England, Mr. Hokin came to Australia early in life.
For some years he lived in West Australia, and about half a century in Victoria, the majority of which time was spent in the Maldon district.
The funeral was well attended. The Rev. J. Tyssen read the burial service.
