"CRAWFORD—HOKIN" The Mail (Adelaide, SA : 1912 - 1954) 29 November 1924: The Mail (Adelaide, SA : 1912 - 1954) 29 November 1924
CRAWFORD— HOKIN
At the Flinders Street Presbyterian Church on October 14 James Alexander Crawford, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Crawford, of Goodwood, was married to Pretoria May, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hokin Moscow street, Peterborough. The Rev. Davidson. D.D., officiated.
The bride wore ivory satin marocain and silver lace with silver trimmings and pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of white fl.owers and maiden hair fern, with white ribbon streamers, and her veil was finished with a coronet of orange blossom.
The bridesmaid, Miss Jean Dodman (a friend of the bride) wore a frock of silver and lavender marocain with silver trimmings. Her bouquet was of lilac and sweet peas with ribbon streamers. Misses Doris Hokin and Jessie Murdock (nieces of the bride) were flower girls, and wore frocks of blue and pink. They carried baskets of sweet peas. Mr. R. Crawford was best man. As the bride was leaving the church Miss Melva Hokin hung a floral horseshoe on her arm.
After the ceremony a reception was held at Arcadia Cafe. The tables were decorated with Iceland poppies and fern. After the usual toasts had been honored a musical programme was given by Misses G and D. Wynes, McLean, and Baker, and elocutionary items by Misses Baker and Doris Hokin.
Mr. and Mrs. Crawford left by the Melbourne express next day for Sydney, where the honeymoon was spent.
