The will of Samuel Holbrooke was dated on May 28, 1759 and less than 6 month later he passed away. Probate was initiated on December 7, 1759. Samuel names in his Will his wife Jane, his children, and his grandchildren including Jane Vinal, child of his deceased daughter Lydia. His executors were his grandsons, Obediah Lincoln of Hingham and Milachi James.[4]

His inventory was taken on 14 December 1759 in Scituate.[5]

In 1761, an account of his estate by Obadiah Lincoln was recorded which included legacies paid, widow support, funeral charges, debts paid, and administration fees.[6]

In 1764, his son Samuel asked the probate court to divide some land that he, Jane Holbrook, and William Holbrooke received from his father's estate.[7]

Holbrook-1060 and Holbrook-1054 appear to represent the same person because: Profile Holbrook-1060 and Holbrook-1054 represent a clear duplicate. Both profiles include same father, same spouse, and same marriage date. The death date in the profile Holbrook-1054 has now been corrected based on probate records, which may have been why this merge was previously rejected.

David, I believe the reason your merge may have been rejected is because the date of death was clearly wrong in the profile (Holbrook-1054) you were proposing. Samuel and his wife Jane (Clapp) had several children after December 15, 1708, which was the date of death included in your previous merge proposal. As of today, I have now corrected this date of death based on Samuel Holbrook (Jr.'s) probate record. He executed his Will in Scituate on May 28, 1759 (naming his wife, children, and grandchildren), and probate in Plymouth Co. was initiated on Dec. 7 1759 (same year). The difference in birth dates between the two profiles, of course and as I am sure you are aware, is due to the Julian calendar in use prior to 1752 and double dating for vital events that took place between January 1 and March 25; hence, the difference between Feb. 9, 1682 and Feb. 9, 1683, dates respectively represented in each of the two profiles--the double date being Feb 9 1682/3. After updating Holbrook-1054 including sources for any changes (currently in progress), a re-merge of this duplicate may be more acceptable. I hope this helps and ultimately clears the way for a successful merge.
