Biography

Hannah Holbrook, was born about 1647, daughter of Captain John Holbrook and his second wife, Elizabeth Stream. [1]

Hannah Pierce received L 50 in the will of her father, Captain John Holbrook of Weymouth, written on July 12, 1699. Also mentioned are are her children Ephraim Jr. and Azrikam Pierce and Rachel Peck. [2] [3] These sons are also mentioned in the will of Capt. Michael Pierce.

She married Ephraim Pierce, son of Captain Michael Pierce, on March 8, 1670. [4] Ephraim was the brother of Abigail Pierce, who married John Holbrook, Hannah Holbrook's brother. [1] Ephraim was born about 1649 at Hingham, Massachusetts. The family removed to Warwick, Rhode Island, before the birth of their first child. [5] [6]

  • 1677: March 9: Ephraim Pierce bought 60 acres at Providence, Rhode Island. [6]
  • 1691: October 12: Having had a previous dispute with wife Hannah over his estate, Ephraim gave notice that no person should buy, sell or trade with Hannah 'upon their peril.' [6]
  • 1693: January 20: Eprhaim and Hannah sold the house, farm, barn, meadows etc. they had lived in at Providence to Thomas Mann. [6]
  • 1698: February 1: At Swansey. Ephraim and wife Hannah sold 16 acres to Simon Davis of Bristol. [6]

Ephraim died September 14, 1719. [6] In his will written on July 18, 1718, he left bequests to:

  • wife Hannah
  • sons Azrikam (executor), Ephraim, Michael and John
  • daughters Rachel Peck, Hannah Martin and Experience Wheaton
  • granddaughter Ruth Pierce [6]
  • 1720: September 20: Azrikam Pierce sold land in Warwick, which his father Ephraim had purchased of Anthony Low, to his widowed mother Hannah, formerly of Rehoboth. [7]
  • 1721: September 21: Widow Hannah Pierce, formerly of Swansea, deeded the above land to her son-in-law William Martin. [7]

Holbrook-2100 and Holbrook-2072 appear to represent the same person because: There is enough information to say they are duplicates. This writer had to create one of the profiles because searching did not bring up the other.
