Married Bernice Rose on December 23, 1937, Chickasha, Ok. Wife, Bernice deceased January 12, 1944. Preceded in death by son, Robert Dale Hollis, still born about 1939, location, General Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK. Business: Sheet Metal trade: He started in the sheet metal business in late 1940's with his first business location on North Western in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He made sheet metal air ducts, gutter and other related items. He expanded his business with locations in Oklahoma City, OK, Clinton, OK and Elk City, OK. and produced metal awnings.

Realtor: He was a long time Real Estate Broker and first sold residential and commercial property. Accumulated several rental properties. Sold land and kept the mineral rights on several land deals. Oil boom in 1980's, royalties produced a great deal of wealth for Gus Hollis. He purchased a drilling rig worth one million to start producing his own mineral rights.

Pilot: He purchased a 182 Cessna in the 1980's and began learning to fly. He held a student pilots license. On March 31, 1983, shortly after take-off from Wiley Post Airport, located in Bethany, Oklahoma, crashed his 182 Cessna about 1/2 mile West of Wiley Post Airport. Possible cause was disoriented.
