Ira was born in 1893, a son of Reverend Bolden Hines Holt and Adelaide "Mallie" Wallace [1]
He attended Arkansas College for two years and then graduated from Southwestern Presbyterian University in 1917, from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1920 and was ordained in the New Albion TX Presbytery.
He married Jane Price Miller in a joint wedding with her sister Margaret Oakley Miller and C.C. Edmondson on June 12,1920 in Memphis, TN. [2]
Rev. Holt and his bride Jane then resided in Salem, Ind. where he had his first pastorate at the First Presbyterian Church from 1920-1922, when Ira was called to the First Presbyterian Church in Corinth, Miss, where they resided from 1922-1935. Their daughter, Jane Price Holt was born in 1930 in Corinth, Miss.
In 1935 they moved to the Chelsea Ave. Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn. where Ira served as Pastor until he died in 1942. He was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby, TN [3][4]
