Ruby was born on March 2nd 1897 in Union, MS to Henry Alonzo Hood and Rose Ella "Rosie" (Ford) New.[1]

They moved to Leachville, AR to take advantage of the cheap rich farmland created with the Tennessee Valley authority drained off the swamps of the Missouri Bootheel and northeast Arkansas. Years later they moved to Malden MO, where she passed away on April 14, 1970.[2]
