Research Notes

There is a marriage between a Joseph Howey III and a Mary Polly Keeling, 4 Aug 1823 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Unknown if these are the right people or where the record exists. Data pulled from ancestry trees. Records indicate parents Lewis and Susannah Keeling?

Note: This may be the marriage record between James Hardin and Mary:

Note that Lafayette Ellis is most likely 12 is the 1850 census, not 19. He has been a brick wall for many descendants. The hope is that he is somehow related to the other individuals in the household:

Hooker-811 and Unknown-301845 appear to represent the same person because: This is a clear duplicate. Please indicate her maiden name to be Unknown at this time. "Hooker" is a name she acquired from her 3rd marriage.

Please set her maiden name to "Unknown" at this time. She married William Hooker after her marriage to James Hardin. Thanks!

Please note, this persons last name is very unlikely to be Hooker. See 1857 Marriage with William Hooker, surname was listed as Hardin, which may be from a previous marriage.

The Howey children in the 1870/1880 census are listed as nephews of Josephine Howey, meaning that Josephine Howey had a brother. This also places Mary as having two children with the surname Howey. (See 1850 census for Mary Hardin with Josephine Howey). So surnames include Howey, Hooker, Hardin, and Ashby. But none of those are the birth name.

Unknown-301807 and Hooker-811 appear to represent the same person because: Spouse of James Ashby
