Biography

John was born in 1743 or 1751 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. John passed away 26 Sep 1826 in Washington County, Pennsylvania.

John Horn served as a Private in the Washington County, Pennsylvania Militia in the American Revolution along with his brother, Hardtman Horn. John apparently married twice, the DAR record lists Catherine surname not stated. Children in patriot file: Susannah who m. Joseph Huffman; John who m. Mary Closser; Daniel who m. Mary Simmons. [1]

John Horn was the sheriff of the Camp Cat Fish Court District 1772-1773 and deputy sheriff of the same district 1774-1775. Records show that he built the courthouse in Augusta Town, and the powder magazine and storehouse in 1775-1776, He built Col. William Wallace's flour mill on Ten Mile Creek 1791-1792. John Horn served in Captain Abner Howell's Company, Pennsylvania Militia, from Washington County, Pennsylvania between 1777 and 1779.

May 2023 - Hi cousins - the two previous parent profiles that I removed were for Jacob Horn (1721-1778) and Dushea Vanetta (Von Reismiller) Horn (1714-1772). Please do not add these as the parents of John, Christopher, or Hardman/Hardtman Horn. There is no genealogical proof that Jacob or Dushea ever existed.
