1776 Project
Private John Hosmer served with Col Eleazer Brooks Regiment, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

John was born 17 June 1752, in Concord, Massachusetts. He was the son of Josiah Hosmer (1714-1788) and Hannah (Wesson) Hosmer (1717-1789).[1]

John served in the American Revolution. He was a private in the Concord company commanded by Lieutenant Ephraim Wheeler in Colonel Eleazer Brook's regiment, and in March 1776 marched to Roxbury to reinforce the Continental Army.[2][3]

On 1 January 1780, John married Mary Vassall Prescott (1760-1814).[4]

John died at age 83 on 16 February 1836, in Concord, Massachusetts. He is buried in the South Burying Place in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.[5]
