Biography

Rachel Howard, born in 1856 at Amherst Island, Ontario, was a daughter of Lucretia Ann Howard (1833-1910) and John Benjamin Howard (1828-1913).

She married Reginald Amherst Fowler on 29 Sep 1881. They lived at ‘The Cedars’, a very beautiful house designed and built by Daniel Fowler in 1850. Rachel Howard Fowler was well known as a charming, elegant and gracious hostess.

In the 1901 Canada census, the household of Rachael and Reginald A. Fowler were enumerated in Lennox Township, Ontario, at which time three of their children remained in household with them:

• Florence A Fowler, age 18
• Caroline A Fowler, age 17
• Endie L Fowler, age 13

The family remained at that location per the 1911 census ^[1].

Reginald died 5 Mar 1923. Rachel Ann Fowler rented the farm (but not the house) in the spring of 1932 to Charles McGinnis.

Rachel Anne (Howard) Fowler died 5 Jun 1941. Her grave is in Pentland Cemetery, Stella, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, Canada ^[2].
