Biography

Jane was born in 1840^[1] in Breighton, Yorkshire, England, and was baptised nearby in Bubwith in 1843. She was the daughter of Ann Howden.^[2]

In 1841 and 1851 Jane lived in Breighton with her maternal grandmother, Jane Howden.^[3][4] In 1861 Jane lived in Bubwith with her mother and worked as a servant.^[5]

Jane married Joseph Precious in Bubwith on 28 November 1861.^[6][7] The family lived in Spaldington, Yorkshire, where Joseph was an agricultural labourer.^[8] Joseph died in 1876 at the age of 37^[9] and was buried in Bubwith.^[10] In 1881 Jane and her children lived in Bubwith. She worked as a dressmaker.^[11]

Jane married William Howden in 1884.^[12] She worked as a dressmaker in 1891 and lived in Bubwith with her children by Joseph Precious.^[13] William and Jane lived in Breighton in 1901. He worked as an agricultural labourer.^[14]

Jane died in 1902 at the age of "60."^[15]
