Biography
Ann (Howden) Sherburn was born in Yorkshire, England.
Ann's daughter, Jane Howden, was born in Breighton in 1840 and was baptised in Bubwith in 1843.[2] At the time of the 1841 census Ann worked for the Stephenson family in Willitoft, Yorkshire.[3]
In February 1851 Ann married Thomas Sherburn in Bubwith, Yorkshire.[1] The family lived in Breighton, where Thomas worked as a cordwainer.[4] He died in 1859 at the age of 48 and was buried in Bubwith.[5]
In 1861 Ann worked as a charwoman and lived in Bubwith.[6] She lived in Bubwith by 1871, when she lived with her mother.[7] Ann worked as a domestic servant for Ann Newstead in 1881.[8][9]
Ann died in Wistow, Yorkshire, in 1893 at the age of 75. She was buried in Bubwith.[10]
Research notes
Could not find a baptism for Ann. But at her marriage in 1851, she said that her father was James Howden, and her daughter, Jane, lived with Ann's mother in 1841 and 1851. Ann also lived with her mother in 1881. Fuller-8857 11:01, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
