Joseph, born 4 Aug 1828 was the 9th of 11 siblings listed in a Huckins family genealogy. The text goes on to say that he was a lumber dealer. On 18 Mar 1855 he married Cordelia Pierce, daughter of Nathan and Mary (Beales). They had 3 children listed in the book, all living as of 1910. [1]
Joseph D (age 26) married Cordelia Bruce (age 21) on 18 March 1855 in Saginaw, Michigan, United States. "Bruce" seems to be a mistake in transcription, unless she had a previous husband. Other records consistently use "Pierce".[2] Five years later Joseph and Delia were in Portsmouth, Bay, Michigan with son Albert age 6/12. The family name was misspelled "Huskins". The enumeration was on 20 Jun 1860.[3]
By 1870 they listed 3 children.[4]

The 1880 census shows Delia and the children and raises a couple of questions. Most obviously, where was Joseph? Also, while Albert/Bert and Nellie aged 10 years as expected, John became Fredie and Arther (14) appears for the first time, listed after younger "siblings". Could he be an adopted relative, listed as a son? Spellings are shown as found.[5]

Note: trees show that Joseph's brother Daniel B. had a son named Arthur in 1866. Both Daniel and his wife Lydia died before 1880. Facts in this paragraph have not been checked with sources, but if accurate they could explain Arthur's presence with Delia in 1880.
In 1900 Joseph was in Bay county. He was listed as married for 45 years, but Cordelia was already deceased. His widowed daughter in law Jenney (sp?), age 40, lived with him. She indicated 1 child born and one living, but no child was with her at the time.[6]
Joseph D, son of Daniel Huckins & Abagail Dawe [sic], died (age 89) on 20 November 1917 in Bay City, Bay, Michigan, United States. He was widowed. Both parents were born in New Hampshire. The informant was Mrs. Willard Grant of Bay City.[7] Unattributed text at FindAGrave names his parents, wife, and children 'Albert "Bert", Nellie(Peck), Arthur J., Frederick and Louise A.'[8]
