She was baptised on 25 May 1812 at Haddenham, Cambridgeshire, the daughter of Thomas and Ann "born at .London" Is "Ann" an error for Mary in the PR?.^[1]

She married Robert Sutton at Sutton, Cambridgeshire, on 10 Jan 1831.^[2]

Her husband Robert died in Jan 1840 aged 30 ^[3]

She was living in Sutton in 1841 - Mary Sutton 30 widow; Mary Sutton 10; Caroline Sutton 8; Jonathan Sutton 6; Hannah Sutton 5; Charlotte Sutton 3. All except Mary the mother born in Cambs.^[4]

In the 1851 census she was still living in Sutton, Cambs _ John Gray head marr 20 ag lab b Witcham; Mary Ann Gray wife 20 b Sutton, Isle of Ely; Mary Ann Sutton mother-in-law widow 41 Laundress Born Not known; Jonathan Sutton son 16 Ag employ b Sutton; Hannah Sutton dau 16 b Sutton; Charlotte Sutton 12.^[5]

Mary Ann remarried on 24 Aug 1854 at Sutton, Cambridgeshire to John Triplow - John of full age widower, plumber, father Joseph Triplow labourer, and Mary Ann Sutton widow of full age, father Thomas Hackett labourer (an error for Huckle or Huckell.^[6]

A few days after marrying John and Mary Anne emigrated to South Australia with MaryAnn's two younger daughters and John's two children, in company with John's first wife's parents, all of their living children and their spouses and their grandchildren, on the “Lord of the Isles”, leaving Southampton on 30 Aug 1854, arriving at Port Adelaide on 2 Dec 1854. There were so many in the group they probably chartered the ship! Passenger list - John Triplow 38 Plumber Glazier Sutton Cambridge; Martha Triplow 44; Joseph Triplow 9; Susannah Triplow 7. Single women: Hannah Sutton 17 servant Cambridge; Charlotte Sutton servant 15 Cambridge (both Martha/Mary Ann's daughters)^[7]

Mary Ann died five years after arriving in Australia, on 5 Oct 1859 at Hindmarsh, South Australia, Australia.^[8]
