Biography
Elizabeth was born about 1677. A 1709 record of marriage for John Adams and Elizabeth Hughlings was found in "Ireland, Diocesan and Prerogative Marriage License Bonds Indexes, 1623-1866" but there is no indication that this was John Adams of County Antrim. There is some speculation that her maiden name may have been McDowell. One researcher cited the name of the first born child of John and Elizabeth Adams as MacDale Adams. It is believed that the Adams family emigrated with members of the McDowell family. Elizabeth passed away in 1775 and is buried in the Lamington Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Somerset County, New Jersey.
