When Emma Grace Hutton Strang was born in September 1868 in Lansing, Michigan, her father, James, was 25 and her mother, Jennett, was 31. She married Edgar Albertus Strang and they had three children together between 1895 and 1905. She then had one child with Edgar Albertus Strang. in 1895. She died having lived for more than 100 years.
