Johann was born on 3 Feb 1718 in Dhronecken, Rhineland-Palatinate, southwestern Germany. He was the son of Johann Balthasar Höffner and Anna Weinig from Dhronecken. Johann was lutherian.
Johann married Maria Elisabeth Hirsch on 16 Feb 1751 in Züsch. The couple had 10 children, nine of these were male.
In 1753/55 Johann is mentioned as living in Welschlonkirch where his third child, Johann Peter, died in 1754.
Maria Elisabeth died in childbed, five days after giving birth to her last child, Johann Karl, on 5 Feb 1774. 8 days later Johann himself also passed away.
