From Findagrave: Son of Robert Ingles and Elizabeth Eccles Husband of Ella Jane Fackrell John E Ingles of West Bountiful Dies at Hospital

John Eccles Ingles 88, of Bountiful who had been at the L D S hospital for about two weeks and had been under a minor operation preparatory to a major operation died at that institution. The deceased in a way was associated with the late Mr. Eccles of Ogden who attained such prominence in the lumber business in Oregon some years ago as the former operated stores at the Eccles lumber camps and to a certain extent share some prosperity through it. Besides filling one or two missions Mr. and Mrs. Ingles spent a few months on it trip to Europe.

Mr. Ingles was born in Paisley Scotland, August 24 1851 and is survived by his widow Mrs. Ella Jane Ingles of West Bountiful and the following sons and daughters, LeGrand Ingles, Idaho Falls, Orlo, Ingles, Ogden, Glen and Vernal Ingles, of West Bountiful; John A Ingles Manhattan Beach, Ore and Mrs. Elizabeth Weeks, Vernal and nine grandchildren

Funeral services were held in the West Bountiful ward, Thursday afternoon and internment took place in the Ogden Cemetery

In 1878 John E. Ingles and Stewart Eccles of Ogden set up a shingle mill on Mud Creek six miles above present Scofield.

While in Operating the Ingles Mercantile store in Scofield Utah The people of the town appointed John E. Ingles and S. J. Harkness on a committee to represent the town before the county Court in their successful Incorporation effort. (March 8 1892). He served as the Scofield Sunday school superintendent from October 1892 to December 1899 and was set apart as Scofield Ward Bishop 28 July 1901.
