Amos was born on 20d 5m 1757 [20 May 1757].[1] He was the son of Joseph Irish and Sarah _____.[1]
He married Esther Irish. He acknowledged to the Oblong monthly meeting in 6m 1779 [Jun 1779] for marrying out of unity.[2] She was received on request four years later on 14d 7m 1783 [14 Jul 1783].[3] The next year, their children Jedediah and Ruth were received.[4]
He died 26d 4m,1832 [26 Apr 1832], aged 74 years, 11 months and 6 days.[5]
Quaker Calendar - There has been much confusion over the dates in Quaker records. Friends used numbered months and days rather than what they considered pagan names for them (i.e. "Thursday" coming from "Thor's Day"). Thus, when the secular calendar was changed in 1752, making January the first month instead of March, Friends began calling January "First Month".
