Biography

Born in 1582, Richard came from England to America as early as 1640 and held a grant of land and deed in Southhold, Massachusetts, but sold it. It is not known where he finally settled. He died in 1672. His first wife hasn't been identified, but his second wife was the widow of Robert Brown.

Some say his wife was - Isabel Maltby b. abt.1586 in Nottinghamshire, England and died 12 Feb 1661. She was the daughter of John Maltby. She married Richard Jackson abt. 1619 in Scrooby, Nottinghamshire. He was born abt. 1582 in England and died 22 Jun 1672 in Southold, MA.

Notes

The JacksonFamilyGenealogy website says:

"The problem with this parentage [i.e., Richard Jackson and Isabel Maltby as father and mother] for our Robert is that there is not a shred of evidence that Richard and Isabella had a son named Robert— except in secondary sources that build more on hopes and assumptions than facts." http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~paxson/jackson/Jackson.index.html

This profile has further during it's history become attached as a child to George Jackson and his wife Elizabeth (Wytham) Jackson. That couple have a known list of children (ex the Herald's Visitiations) who were all born in York not Nottinghamshire as stated for this profile.

The latest revision to the profile of George Jackson places his year of death at about 1579 whihc makes him being parent to this person even less likely.

The above parents have therefor beeen disconnected. If you have good reason to believe that they should be shown as his parents, please reconnect them together with appropriate documentary sourcing.

There is similarly no evidence at all that he came from Nottinghamshire. His biography appears to contain just the fact that he was an Englishman who died in Massachusetts in 1672.
