See notes under her husband. It's very likely her last name was Ruiter. [1]
The surname Ruiter (Ruijter) was floating around Dinxterveen area in the late 1600’s: Geert Ruijter’s wife Beertien Andries remarried a widower in 1685; Jan Hendrix Ruiter’s wife Elsjen Hendrix remarried a “young man” in 1685. There were also Ruiters in Coevorden: Jan Ruiter, a soldier, had Helena in 1672; Hendrik Ruijter had Klaes in 1663. Thijes Ruiter had sons named Harmen & Roelof who were young adults in Dinxterveen in the 1710's. Perhaps they’re all related to our Jan.
There was also a Ruiter family from a nearby area in Overijssel. Jan Jans Ruiter was born around 1626 in Blokzijl, and he married Geesjen Wiegers (born 1629) on November 28, 1659 in Steenwijkerwold. I also found a Jochem Lukesz Ruter in Havelte who had Lukes in 1668. There were other Ruter families there too, but it’s hard to sort anything out as the baptism book only starts in 1666. Jochem was a rather common name in these towns, but I couldn’t find any record of our Jochem in the area towns. These people are all most likely related, but I found no common connection.
