The information about his origins claimed in a 1912 genealogy[1] -- namely that he was a son of William Van Deursen and Elizabeth Gysberts have subsequently been refuted.[2],[3] Therefore, they have been detached as parents from this profile.
"The church records for Deursen in the province of North Brabant begin in 1614; this leaves only the possibility of searching any existing notarial records, but these are usually incomplete and therefore a search is often inconclusive."
Pieter Jans is referred to throughout the records with a variety of spellings/references:
van Deursen in Brabant
van Doornen
van Doersen
van Buyl (in 1608; thought to be an error)
Church member and Marriage
Pieter Jans, jongman uit Duersen (Deursen) in Brabant (Deurne?), inwonend bij Goort Roelofs uit Aarle-Beek (Aarle-Rixte of Beek en Donk?) in het Crayenest, werd in 1588 lidmaat van de gereformeerde gemeente.[4]Gehuwd voor de kerk op 15-01-1591 te Haarlem [5]:Hij trouwde op 15~januari 15-01-1591 als vrijgezel met Paulina Vinck, jongedochter uit Roeselare.[6]Translated: Pieter Jans , young man from Duersen in Brabant (Deurne or Deursen ) , residing at Goort Roelofs ( from Aarle - Beek) in the Crayenest was in 1588 member of the Reformed Church. His LNAB is just the Patronymic Jans , he was indeed from Duersen (Deursen or Deurne) but this was just the place where he was from, not his LNAB . His wife, was from or was born at Roeselare (see Bio added a link to the place) a place in West Vlaanderen , Belgium. Someone translated this place into Rensselaer ? , so that's not correct/ So Paulina Vincke was from Roeselare, (now) West-Vlaanderen, Belgium and he was from Deursen (Duersen, (or Deurne) ) Noord brabant Netherlands.
Research published in 1978 confirmed a) he was father of immigrant Abraham Pieterszen (van Deursen), and b) that he married 15 January 1591 in Haarlem, Paulina Vincke of Rensselaer, and c) that he was originally from Deursen, Brabant.
VanDeursen-23 and Van Deursen-27 appear to represent the same person because: Same vitals; same parents; merge into Van_Deursen-27 because the naming protocol requires a space between Van and Deursen (how it was worded during his life time).
VanDeursen-13 and Van Deursen-27 appear to represent the same person because: Same vitals; same family members. Merge into Van_Deursen-27 because the naming convention here is to use the two-word Van Deursen. That is the way it was spelled during the time of his life. Thank you!
Van Deusen-34 and Van Deursen-27 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. I saved the alternate data to the bio. Thanks!
Robert, in the WikiTree world, your call for verification or source on Maria is not going to happen in any timely manner. But what is going to happen soon is that Abraham and his common descendants are going to start getting disconnected from parents, as those merges get pushed through. Sorry, but it cannot be adequately policed.
The goal needs to be maximum damage control. So blocking Pieter's merge here, for what amounts to a nitpicky reason, on a very deep ancestor, is going to do more harm than good to the tree.
Pieter is clearly a match of the same person. He has no tree conflicts which would cause any disconnects, or bad merges of his parents. Likewise, all agree that his son is Abraham, who married Tryntje Melchiors.
The dispute is about Abraham's mother only. A later fix.

Well, maybe not so bad. The Abraham and Sarah children in the matching profiles have no descendants to interfere with later merges. So I am just going to ignore this branch as unresolved.
VanDeursen-6 and Van Deursen-27 are not ready to be merged because: With Christening of Abraham Pietersen VanDeusen on 11 Nov 1607 son of Pieter and Pauline (Vincke) this makes Maria Jans Van Deursen Wessanaer an unlikely mother is married in 1606. Peter Jans and Pauline were married 15 Jan 1591. Verification or source on Maria m. 1606 is needed.
