Mary (Jarman) Dias was born in Ramsgate, Kent, England.

Mary Jane Jarman was born on 16 Sep 1827 in Ramsgate, Kent, England. She was the daughter of Richard Jarman and Mary Bishop. She was christened on 28 Mar 1830 in St George's Church, Ramsgate, Kent, England.[1][2]

In 1841 she was age 11 and living with her parents and siblings in Ramsgate, Kent, England.[3]

In 1851 she was age 21 and single, and was living with the Rev. Thomas Cramp family as their servant.[4]

On 26 July 1853, aged 23, Mary immigrated to Sydney, Australia as a single lady and house servant with her sister Henrietta aboard the ship "Earl of Elgin."[5]

Mary married James Dias on the 20th of March 1856 in Sydney, Australia.[6]
