Biography

William was born on the 12th of March 1788 and baptised on the 8th of April in Barony Lanarkshire. He was the son of John Jarvie and Elizabeth Napier. [1] William's father was a master shoemaker. [2] William worked in Barony as a cotton hand loom weaver in Barony moving to Cambuslang sometime around 1829.[3]

Marriage and Children

William married Anstruther Peatie on the 6th of July 1809 in Barony Lanarkshire. [4]The couple had seven known children,

  1. Susan born in 1812
  2. John born in 1816
  3. Elizabeth born in 1817
  4. Helen born in 1823
  5. Janet born in 1826
  6. William born in 1829
  7. James born in 1832

Death and Burial

William passed away on December 18th 1872 at his home in Springwells, Cambuslang. William was a widower at the time of his death as Anstruther had passed away in 1863. His son James was present and informed the registrar.[5]
