Minnie was born in Oct. 1925 She is the daughter of Charlie Johnston and Ollie Anderson. She married William R. Whitley. She passed away in 2012.[1]
Obituary
Minnie Lee Johnston Whitley, 87, of Huntersville, NC died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Genesis Elder Care. She was born October 8, 1925 in Rowan County to the late Charles M. Johnston and Ollie Anderson Johnston. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Whitley, brother; James Johnston, sisters; Marie Mitchell and Cordie Lankford. She retired from AT&T, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and was a lifetime member of Smallwood Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. Minnie is survived by sisters; Mildred Stikeleather and Evelyn Hedrick of Statesville, NC, Alice Toungate of Austin, TX and brother; Russell Johnston of Mooresville, NC in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, including Rebecca (Doni) Piercy, Danita Lankford, Debbie Pannell, and David Lankford who helped care for her the past 8 years as she battled with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 28, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Piercy officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial may be made to Smallwood Presbyterian Church, 101 S. Gardner Ave., Charlotte, NC 28208 or The Alzheimer's Foundation, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Genesis Eldercare in Mooresville, NC for the wonderful care Minnie received for the past eight years. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com[2]
