Surveyor for Putnam Co 1857 5TH TN Cavalry Co A Pvt. Description from service records- 5'7", Fair complexion, hazel eyes and black hair. Enlisted 07/21/1862 in Nashville

Obituary published twice in the Cookeville Press- First on 04/18/1895 Vol VIII, No. 24 Pg 5: Esquire M.F. Jones, of the eighth district, died last Friday after a few days illness with Pneumonia. Esquire Jones was a highly respected citizen and had been a member of the county court for more than 20 Years. He was about sixty-five years of age.

Second= 04/25/1895, No 25, Pg 7: Esquire M.F. Jones, who was taken sick with pneumonia April 6th, Died April 11. He has left many relatives and friends to mourn. He has served as justice of the peace 18 years. (Algood)
