William Jones was born in about 1812 in Stretton Sugwas, Herefordshire. He was the son of James and Jane Jones. He was christened on 6 Jan 1812 in Stretton Sugwas.

William married Mary Lowe on 6 Nov 1836 at St Helens Chapel of Ease. Both were resident in the local parish (Prescot); the witnesses were William Marwood and Jane Jones.

Their daughter Jane was born in about 1837 in Sutton, Lancashire. She was christened on 24 Dec 1837 at St Helens Chapel of Ease. Her father's occupation was given as labourer, and the family's address as Sutton.

Their son James was born in about 1840 in Sutton.

Their son Thomas was born in about 1842 in Sutton.

Their son Joseph was born in about 1845 in Sutton. His birth was registered in the first quarter of the year, in Prescot district.
