Biography
Lydia (Keller) Bowman was born in Pennsylvania.
Lydia (Keller) Bowman has German Roots.
Lydia, daughter of Samuel Keller and Juliana Rohrbaugh,[1] was born 23 September 1846 in Heidelberg Township, York County, Pennsylvania.[1]
In 1850, four-year-old Lydia played on the family farm (valued at $4,000) in Heidelberg Township, where she lived with her parents Samuel (age 49, farmer) and Julian Keller (44), and her siblings Keziah (18), Eli (15), Henry (13), John (9), Louisa (6) and Leah Keller (2).[2]
Oscar Raymond Bowman (b. 1 August 1882;[16][17] m. Helen H. Frock;[18][19] d. 31 July 1951).[20]
The couple settled in Heidelberg Township, where the household in 1870 consisted of Philip S. (age 25, tenant farmer), Lydia (24) and their first-born Milton Emory Bowman (2) as well as a domestic servant named Pius Sindorf (16).[21]
By 1880 the family had moved to Penn Township, York County, and grown to encompass P. S. (age 34, farmer), Lydia E. (33), Milton E. (11, student), Martha E. (8) and Ira Alvin Bowman (2), and a servant named Catherine Smith (18).[22] Philip (54, clerk), Lydia (54, mother of four, all living), Martha E. (28), Ira A. (23, iron moulder) and Oscar R. Bowman (18, student) remained in the house they had in Penn Township in 1900.[23] Phlip S. (64, clerk, registrar's office), Lydia (63) and Martha (38) continued to reside at 585 Baltimore Pike in Penn Township in 1910.[24] Milton (41), his spouse and six children lived in the same house as a separate family.[25]
After the death of her husband in 1913,[4] Lydia E. (age 73) and her daughter Martha E. Bowman (40) lived at 579 Grangeville in Penn Township.[26]
Lydia died 17 May 1924 in East Hanover, York County, at the age of 77 due to an acute intestinal obstrution.[1] She was buried 21 May 1924 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover.[27]
