John was born in 1792 in Augusta County, VA. He was the son of Daniel Kerr. As a young child he moved with his parents to Deer Creek, Bath, Virginia (now Pocahontas, WV). On 23 Nov 1815 he married Susan Emily Hannah (1798-1846, FAG# 84633338). They had 12 children. After Susan passed away in 1846 he moved to Missouri and then married again on 5 Dec 1848 to Hester E Nettie Anderson. They had 6 children. Settling in Monroe, MO, it is here he passed away in 1855. He is buried at the South Fork Cemetery in Monroe, MO.
