Biography

Katherine Kline was born on 14 Aug 1867 at her parents' home on St. Clement Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of four children born to immigrant parents Barbara Milhizer and Nicholas Klein. She was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, South River and Academy Streets, Wilkes-Barre. Kate never married. [1][2]

In 1870, Kathrine (2) was living in Wilkes Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania with her parents, two brothers, and sister. [3]

In 1880, Kate (12) was living on St. Clement Street, Wilkes Barre, with her widowed mother and her three siblings. [4]

In 1900, Kate (32) was living at 30 St. Clement Street, Wilkes Barre, with her widowed mother and her older sister, Mary. Her older brother, Jacob, lived next door at 32 St. Clement Street with his family, and her younger brother, Pete, lived down the street with his wife at 49 St. Clement Street. [5]

Kate's mother died in Jan 1910. In Apr 1910, Kate (42) was living at 30 St. Clement Street, Wilkes Barre, with her sister, Mary. Pete still lived down the street with his wife at 49 St. Clement Street. [6]

Sometime between 1910 and 1917 the city of Wilkes-Barre renamed St. Clement Street Westminster Street. [1] In 1920, Kate (52) was living at 30 Westminster Street, Wilkes Barre, with her sister, Mary. [7]

In 1930, Kate (62) was still living at 30 Westminster Street, Wilkes Barre with her sister, Mary. Also living in the household were her widowed brother Jacob, his daughter, Euada, and her husband, Charles W Rohme. [8]

Katherine Kline died at home at 30 Westminster Street, Wilkes-Barre, on 4 Apr 1931, aged 63, six days after her sister Mary died. The cause of death was influenza pneumonia. She was buried on 7 Apr 1931 in Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The only marker on the family lot is for her father, Nicholas Kline. [9][2]
