Comfort Marvel Knowles was born in Sussex County, Delaware, in 1790, the daughter of James D. Knowles and Patience Marvel. At age 17, she became the wife of Joshua Wilson, Jr., and together they raised a large family. The first two children were born in Greene County, Georgia, but the rest were born in the Indiana Territory after the family migrated from Georgia to Indiana, about 1812.[1]
Comfort was left a widow in 1839, with the death of her husband, Joseph. In 1860, having raised her family, she was living with her youngest son and his family. She died in 1868, at age 78, and is buried with her husband at Wilson Cemetery, Gibson County, Indiana.
