Lt. Thomas E. N. Knox was born in 1900. He was the son of Edward Knox and Mabel Wade. He passed away in 1929.

Uchtred Knox. Born about 1380 in Craigends, Renfrewshire, Scotland.

The first of his line known to have taken the name Knox. According to Henry Colburn in 1868 " The first of his family of whom there is any record is Uchtred whose son Adam, early in the 13th century, obtained the lands of Knox and Ranfurley in the shire of Renfrew, from Walter, High Steward of Scotland, and took the surname Knox. He was succeeded by his son "John Knox)." Uchtred Knox

In the "Genealogical memoirs of John Knox and of the family of Knox" by Rev. Charles Rogers it is stated that "Returning to the Renfrewshire family, Mr George Crawfurd in his history of that house derives its origin from Adam, son of Uchtred, who, in the reign of Alexander II., received from Walter, son of Alan, Steward of Scotland, the lands of Knox, in the barony of Renfrew. "The family," he adds, " got also from the Great Stewart the lands of Ranfurlie and Grieff Castle ... The son of Adam, son of Uchthred, was Johannes de Knox, in the reign of King Alexander III. According to the chartulary of Paisley, Johannes Knox ... witnessed, in August 1466, a legal instrument between Henry, Abbot of Paisley, and John Lamond" He quotes as sources.
